ASU Newman Center

Phoenix, Arizona

Located on Arizona State's Campus, this building is conceptualized as a container for active academic lives, centered about an outdoor court. The parti of the new building respects the existence of an old chapel on the southeastern quadrant of the site by appropriately distancing the new structure along its west perimeter through a spatial separation creating an outdoor court. Activities within the building are located to give public visual exposure, creating the animation of students and glowing interior spaces.
